Strolling Among Street Art

Don’t feel like visiting an average museum? Go to the Street Art Museum Amsterdam (SAMA) in the New-West. You won’t find the collection of over 150 paintings in a physical museum, but simply in a public space. From a giant work by Stinkfish to a tiny figure by BunnyBrigade.

“During a tour of the Street Art Museum, you will hear the many stories behind the special street art in the New-West district.”

Graffiti is often considered to be vandalism, because it blots and damages buildings. The Street Art Museum, however, has an entirely different opinion. Street art is one of the most relevant artforms of today. Therefore, the museum brings a lot of street art to New-West and organises a tour past imposing paintings of international and national street artists. During such a tour, you will also be told the stories behind the works of art that are often a reaction to society.

Nice to know

From 2019, you’ll be able to admire even more street art in Amsterdam. Then, the largest street art museum in the world, Street Art Today, will arise in the former Lasloods on the NDSM grounds, an area spanning more than 7,000 square metres.
